As you prepare your hearts and
your minds for worship, reflect on these words:
“Those who
wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings
like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not
faint.” Isaiah 40:31

Is In His Holy Temple”

Call to
Worship:
Leader: Good morning!
People: Good morning!
Leader: Praise the Lord! How good it is to sing praises to our God; for he is gracious,
and a song of praise.
People: The Lord builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the
outcasts of Israel.
Leader: He heals the brokenhearted, and
binds up their wounds.
People: He determines the number of the stars; he
gives to all of them their names.
Leader: Great is our Lord, and abundant in power;
his understanding is beyond measure.
People: The Lord lifts up the downtrodden; he
casts the wicked to the ground.
Leader: Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; make
melody to our God on the lyre.
People: He covers the heavens with clouds, prepares
rain for the earth, and makes grass grow on the hills.
Leader: He gives to the animals their food, and to
the young ravens when they cry.
People: His delight is not in the strength of the
horse, nor his pleasure in the speed of a runner.
Leader: But the Lord takes pleasure in those who
fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love.
People: Praise the Lord!
Invocation (Unison)
O Lord our God, around us are
symbols of our faith; symbols of Christ, of your presence, of your love. Let them speak as we worship. May their beauty, their color, their
perfection cause us to probe our hearts, to recognize our imperfections, and
with contrition, to lay them aside. In
Jesus’ name. Amen.
CONFESSION AND AFFIRMATION
Silent Meditation
Call to Confession
(Pastor)
Christ invites you to come before
his presence; all who profess the Christian faith, who endeavor to be at peace
with their neighbors, and who seek the mercy of God.
Prayer of Confession (Unison)
Most merciful God, we humbly admit
that we need your help. We confess that
we have wandered from your way. We have
done wrong, and we have failed to do what is right. You alone can save us.
Have mercy on us. Wipe out our
sins and teach us to forgive others.
Bring forth in us the fruit of the Spirit that we may live as disciples
of Christ. This we ask in the name of
Jesus our Savior. Amen.
Assurance of Forgiveness
(Pastor)
While it is true that we have
sinned, it is a greater truth that we are forgiven through God’s love in Jesus
Christ. To all humbly seek the mercy of
God I say, in Jesus Christ your sin is forgiven. Thanks be to God.
