ORDER OF WORSHIP
As you prepare your hearts and
your minds for worship, reflect on these words:
“I have
said this to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have
overcome the world.” John 16:33

Call to Worship:
Leader: Good
morning!
People:
Good morning!
Leader: For God alone my soul waits in silence,
People:
for my hope is from him.
Leader: He alone
is my rock and my salvation, my fortress;
People:
I shall not be shaken.
Leader: On God rests
my deliverance and my honor;
People:
my mighty rock, my refuge is in God.
Leader: Trust in him
at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him.
People:
God is a refuge for us.
Invocation (Unison)
Our Father and our God, we praise you. We lift up praise in response to your
creative power that fashioned the earth and outer space and all that we are and
have. We lift up praise for your
awesome holiness that draws us even as it forces us to recognize our own
unworthiness. You alone are our
deliverance; you alone are our rock and salvation. And even as you extended your love toward us, make us instruments
of your love in a lost and hurting world.
For we pray this is Jesus’ name.
Amen.
CONFESSION AND AFFIRMATION
Silent Meditation
Call to Confession
(Pastor)
“…for the Lord sees not as man sees; man looks at the
outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” Samuel 16:7b
Prayer of Confession (Unison)
Lord, we confess our day to day failure to be truly
human. Lord, we confess that we often
fail to love with all we have and are, often because we do not fully understand
what loving means, often because we are afraid of risking ourselves. Holy Spirit, speak to us. Help us to listen to your word of
forgiveness, for we are very deaf.
Come, fill this moment and free us from sin. We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Assurance of Forgiveness
(Pastor)
This saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance:
That Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners, and
was manifested in the flesh, vindicated in the Spirit, seen by angels,
pro-claimed among the nations, believed in throughout the world, taken up in
glory. Great indeed is the mystery of
the gospel. Thanks be to God.

The apostle Paul said in I Corinthians 13:13, “And now these
three remain: faith, hope and love. But
the greatest of these is love.” The
measure of a person is not how great his faith is, but how great his love is.
